ABOUT

Karen Leong is a Cantonese writer of poetry, prose, and nonfiction. Drawn to reclamation and desire, her body of work operates as semiotic storytellers; speaking to the emergence of such motifs across topographies of pop culture, film, fashion and art. She is guided by her background and passion in editorial to engage with the collision and uncertainties of cultural discourse.

Having completed her degree in English Literature and Gender Studies (Distinction) at the University of Sydney, Karen has also worked with editorial houses such as The Peahce Project, Astrophe and Demure magazine. Her bylines and published pieces can be found in Doof Magazine, Leste Magazine, Vice Asia and more. She currently works and writes on unceded Gadigal land.

Outside of writing, Karen is enthused about merging her experience as a model and multi-hyphenate creative with the written word. She is always looking for collaborators who similarly identify under the vast cache of race and gender diversity for work and proposals. You can reach her on the contact form at the bottom of this page.
